Jeep Trailer Lessons

Towing a trailer behind a vehicle can seem straightforward, but it’s essential to understand the legal requirements in Ireland to ensure you’re towing safely and within the law. I offer Jeep and Trailer Lessons to help you learn the skills and gain the confidence needed to tow a variety of loads, whether you’re transporting livestock, heavy equipment, or a simple single-axle trailer.

Do You Need a Trailer Licence?

Without the correct licence, you risk penalties, including fines, court appearances, and potentially even a driving ban if caught by the Gardaí.

If you’re towing anything beyond a light trailer, you may need a Category BE licence. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • With a Category B licence, you can tow a trailer up to 750 kg or a vehicle and trailer combination not exceeding 3,500 kg.
  • A Category BE licence is required for towing trailers where the combined weight exceeds 3,500 kg, such as horseboxes or trailers for livestock.
